Horn acts wierd

Horn works with key out. However, when key is in ignition, horns don't work. Ant ideas. Key or ignition switch?

It may be your ignition switch failing on you. Turn the key to the ACC position and wiggle it and shove it in and pull it out a bit a few times and beep the horn and see if it works.

When the plastic bits in the ignition switch go out, all sorts of funky things start happening, like your windshield wipers not working, radio not turning on, AC working in one mode and not another, etc.

Here's the part for sale if this is the culprit: http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-parts-sale-wanted/57167-new-ignition-switch.html

Can't explain why the horns worked or didn't depending on whether the key was in or out of the ignition, but the fix was a broken wire in the steering column.
