Windows (both) stuck in down position
Hoping for a little troubleshooting help on this one. MY 99 USA. Both windows (driver passenger) went all the down today via the switch , also put the top down today. Went to put the top up later and no luck. Some searching led me to the brake light not coming on when brake is engaged, so I worked the hand brake a few times , got the brake light to come on and the top works just fine now. However , after getting the top up I went to roll both windows up and nada, no click , no movement , zero. Checked the 15 and 30 amp fuse and both are good. Im stumped as to why both windows have failed and if it has something to do with the intermittent brake light switch causing the top to have issues today. I can see no info on a window relay.
Any troubleshooting suggestions on where to start ? Thanks ! |
After some further troubleshooting , turns out fuse C3 was missing. I had the car at local shop that specializes in alignment since I had just replaced the tie rods. Now the windows went down on my to the shop , then would not go up when I got the car home from the shop. They said they did not remove any fuses and I can't see any reason why they would with an alignment. Strange though .....

I'd check the weather forcast before putting the top down if I were you. I spent an hour parked under an overpass once because it started to rain and my top wouldn't go up. That also turned out to be the park brake switch.
