The prices for the new engines are easily obtainable from Porsche. However, the engine is just the start of our costs if you are stuffing into a Box. Do a search and you will find many posts.

A used engine is again, sourced from the specialty yards, like LA Porsche. Prices vary.

If it were me, there would be NO WAY that I would go used on an engine when doing this swap.

Too risky for my tast.

Proceed with caution. This is a BLACK HOLE!

Good luck.

Choosing a 3.4 or a 3.6 has a lot to do with what MY you are driving. If I am not mistaken, the 3.6 requires a newer boxster due to the electronic throttle requirement. The 3.4 is a good fit for older boxsters like mine.

Richard's right though... I've investigated a 3.4 liter swap and it ain't cheap, new or used! Moreover, you can forget recouping your investment.

I'm still planning to do this or SC my 2.5.

Go to: http://www.car-part.com It's a nation wide wrecker search engine.

Put in the part you want and your search area. For a motor like that you might wanna select USA for the entire search area as they are not gonna be easy to find.

I searched 99 911 Engine only found 2 in the USA at wreckers, both 15k

I saw a 3.6L engine out of a 2004 996 a few mo back on ebay. It had front end damage so the salvage yard was selling the engine for only 4,500 dollars plus shipping. It would have been a nice buy. Randall is right, pre-2000 cars should go 3.4L and 2000 and later boxsters should get the E-gas ready 3.6L.

How about a NEW 355 HP small block Chevy motor for about $3800?
