How does the throttle work in the 2004 Boxster?

I am just curious to know. Is it still the old fashioned cable pulling and opening the throttle or is it electronic/computer controlled?

I ask because I will need to understand and connect the throttle to the new mechanism as I convert my 986 to electric. Just thought of this and did not know, so am asking.

I will probably find out as we are disconnecting everything one by one to drop the engine but my curiosity is getting the better of me...

Garage
It is a drive by wire set up. I think the cable system ended in 1999 or 2000.

Thanks Tommy. I was about to ask for more clarification on how DBW works but then I thought better of it and Google'd it...

What is Drive By Wire | How DBW works throttle accelerator

The question now I have is when I am converting my Boxster to electric how would I connect my accelerator paddle to the Throttle box (see attached).

Anyone here who has done the conversion that can help guide me?
