XM on a 03' Bose system

A buddy of mine wants to know if he can intall XM satellite on his stock Bose stereo system. He just wants to integrate it into the stereo,no extra wiring(if necessary) or changing receivers. Does the Bose system on a 03' Boxster S come with an aux input for such a thing? Is there a way he can receive XM radio signals with his current Bose receiver? Any advice would be appreciated.

hey blink, considering that the bose system on my 05 doesn't have that feature, I'd doubt it was available in 03. I'm mystified as to why Porsche is lagging behind bmw, audi and mb when it comes to satellite and ipod capatability in their stock headunits.

i have a great alpine system, that is xm ready (i have the kit) and is ipod ready, in my beetle that i was gonna swap into the porsche, but there is no wiring diagram or face kits on the market - so if I'm gonna go xm in the box, it will be thru an rf adaptor and with my ipod, using my itrip. in either case, the sound quality stinks!

with your friend's 03, he should be able to upgrade to an aftermarket head unit that is satellite and ipod ready - the face kits/wiring diagrams should be available. it will definitely cost more - the headunit, xm adaptor, ipod adaptor, and potentially new speakers (i think if you swap out the headunit with a bose system, you have to swap out the speakers) - but he could end up with something that has 100% great sound quality (ie, radio, cd, satellite and ipod) - where as buying the portable xm kit and playing via rf will always have diminished sound.
