Faultless tool
 
Has anyone seen a diy write up or video for the gen 2 ims "pro" using the faultless tool? I am interested in this solution but would like to better understand the procedure.

You won't find a "DIY" for either the IMS Pro or the Faultless tool, simply because these are designed for use in the professional shop that has been certified by Jake Raby's educational system. Neither Jake or LN support the DIY market any longer, or supply any instructional information.

I respectfully disagree.

You can purchase the faultless tool directly from LN via their web site, which show that the tool is required to install the dual row retrofit bearing.

If they've changed their policy they might want to change their web page.

That said, to answer the OP the combined price of the faultless tool and bearing should lead you quickly to the conclusion that the plain bearing IMS "solution" is where your money should go. I'd much rather have the money inside my car than on my work bench gathering dust.

I've spent about a quarter of my career in tool design and from a glance it would appear that the new tool assures alignment of the bearing so it doesn't get jacked up when pushing it in. If the bearing is misaligned on install it is junk and you need to pull it and get a new one.

I did not say that you cannot purchase one, what I said is that you will not find a DIY explanation of how to use the tool, and specifically to install the IMS Pro version. Both Jake and Charles have openly stated that they no longer provide information or support for any DIY IMS installations. Jake has even gone as far as to remove all information concerning IMS removal and installations from his website.

JFP is correct, we train professionals in classes and have developed all the tools and products to be fitted by professionals.

I have a new class for 2015 where we instruct enthusiasts as well.

We also think there should be instructions included with the purchase, especially if anyone can purchase these tools. If this company wants to train the people on how to install it, they should only allow these people to purchase their product in the first place. It's not fair to the customer if these instructions are not included because by buying the tool, he also is advised to sign up for additional training, and pay for it.
If you'd like to replace your IMS by yourself, get the tools, look at them, and you will be able to figure out how to use them. You do not need any paid additional training on how to do that.
You can always PM us if you have any questions about using the tools. We will tell you or ANYBODY ELSE ON THIS FORUM how to install the IMS step by step for FREE.

The Faultless Tool comes with a full set of print instructions, and always has. Training is supplied to put the tools in the installers hands and teach them the little tricks that I learned as the inventor and developer of the Faultless Tool .These types of little things make a huge difference in attaining proficiency with the tool.The instructions are written in technical terms, for professional technicians. Its not to say that a layperson can't comprehend them, as many have.

Offering training to those that want to learn from the developers is something that we are often praised for. In a recent class I had two Canadians, someone from Brazil and someone from Australia. In 2015 I have added many more classes, to include Enthusiast level classes, and I have just finished constructing a training center at my new research center. This is closer to Atlanta and because its off site from my current facility, we can have classes once or even more per month without affecting operations at the primary facility. I instruct around 1400 technicians and enthusiasts per year between my WTI classes, and my hands on classes, next year that number will double.

Yes, the classes cost money- there's no such thing as a free lunch.
