suspension/coffin arms

I have squeaky/graunchy front coffin arm on drivers side. Passenger one seems ok….
Do I need to change both?

If there are no other symptoms the ball-joint may be dry. It's a common problem with an easy fix-- shoot some oil/ grease under the protective rubber cover. I had my alignment guy do it while I spun the steering wheel back and forth. Mine has been silent for 2 years now...

I have to admit that I had to look up the meaning of a "coffin arm"! I had never heard that term before.

I learn something every day from this Forum.

You've just reminded me, it has been my intention for some time to begin a British English / Australian / American translation thread for automotive terms on this forum. It would at least be worth a good laugh or two.
