Mods for your porsche.
Hi Im new to the forum.
 The only other products I want for my 986 are a new/used set of 17 or 18inch alloys, hardtop and perhaps a new set of mats. I have done the clear lights all around, new rear badge, the dansk exhaust conversion, and various mods for the car interior. chipping, filters and superchargers dont interest me I am happy with the performance and dont want to risk damaging anything. WHat moderfications has everyone else done on this site or what mods are they planning to do...? cheers. |
.....there are too many,I think you need to help us narrow it down by saying what area(interoir, exteroir, stereo) more you are looking for.
One of the best mods in my mind that everyone seems to notice(who has seem my front trunk) is the Porsche U.S. first aid kit I have where the factory option CD changer would be. It sticks up with velcro and everyone says"Whats this a first aid kit? Now you have taken it too far!"$15 There is also a rear speaker kit available(fit in where the "storage" compartment is),its a great mod in my opinoin. The speaker kit helps to "fill" in the sound, and GREATLY helps when the top is down cruising on the freeway.$198 Personally I would like to put on the rear diffusers as seen on the 03' Boxsters and up,but I cant get over the whole $1600 to put them on. Just help us narrow down the area and we will throw 50+ mods you can do. Welcome aboard! :) |
My latest mod which was suggested by many 986forumeers - front strut braces. I can deffinitely tell the difference in handling around turns. I will soon be doing the back end to complete the mod.

Where did you get the braces??What kind? Also how much did it run you. I am thinking about doing it soon. Thank, James |
I agree with the front strut brace as a logical choice. I am looking to do this as soon as I find one for a decent price.
|
TriGem2k - there are several places to look for strut braces (schnell performance, paragon products, ebay, etc.) I got mine on ebay from maxspeed-motorsports approx $200.00 including shipping.
I'm sure there will be several posts following this with better prices. |
Trigem
I got the same brace from maxspeed. Very nice product and easy install. I think total cost was around 165.00 Its the carbon fiber version. Doh this is my 100 post YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!  |
strut brace
The handling of the boxster is one of the main reasons I brought it.
I brought a strut brace for my previous Mz3 and IMHO a strut brace is not needed for the box. |
Thanks for the product review on the Max-speed brace. I saw it on ebay and wondered about it. It looks just like the RD carbon fiber brace. According to the seller it is a "no-name" manufacturer so I wondered about the quality. Sounds like its a pretty good deal.
