How do you intentionally make the spoiler always stay up?

Track car: 99 Boxster

As per my fuse diagram, I pulled fuse D7 in hopes of keeping the spoiler permanently stuck in the upward position. However, the spoiler still retracts upon deceleration below 50 MPh. How do I truly stop it from retracting?

Since I haven't uploaded a picture of my Boxster in a while, here ya go!

If you use the switch on the fuse box to raise the spoiler, does that override the automatic retracting?

Here are a few thoughts;

You can manually raise the spoiler using the footwell switch but it will revert back to automatic operation the next time that you start the car.

One way to keep the spoiler up is to raise it manually and then disconnect the electrical connector. The downside is that you'll get an ECU fault and the spoiler light will illuminate on the dash. Some people can live with this but it drives some people crazy to see a dash light on.

Another way to keep the spoiler up is to raise it manually and then use a PIWIS or Durametric Pro (not the Enthusiast version) to disable the spoiler operation. This should keep it in the up position and you won't get a dash light. But if you ever want to revert back to normal operation, you'll have to enable the spoiler using a PIWIS or Durametric Pro again.

Another way to keep the spoiler up is to disconnect/remove the spoiler motor and mechanically pin the spoiler in the up position. If you remove the motor, it will also save some weight. You'll still have to deal with the ECU fault/spoiler light illuminated on the dash or simply ignore it.

The manual switch still works even with the fuse pulled. :confused:

This sounds like the best way to go. In reality, I probably should have one already for the various other uses. Can you recommend a good one that I can buy on eBay or Amazon? Or do I need some fancy-pants gear from the dealership? I have heard of people using a PIWIS cable and an old laptop and having very good results. What do you use?

It's like walking around with a permanent erection.

If the spoiler stays up for more than four hours you should see your mechanic.

^ What they said! You wouldn't want anyone to see your spoiler up and think your Boxster was broken, would you :rolleyes:?

Birds love to sit on that and crap on the trunk.
