986/987 roof

I have a 2002 986 with plastic rear window roof. I know that a 986 face lift roof will fit but can't find one for sale in UK. Does any body know if the 987 roof would fit?

Sorry the side windows tapers differently on the rear edge and they are a hair shorter height wise. I was able to trace an 06 window while researching hard tops. The windows will not seal to the top.

You can just buy aftermarket replacement tops with glass window for 986 on eBay.

The facelift roof requires replacing the entire roof assembly, not just the fabric top.

I recall seeing something in the DIY section about replacing a soft top on the 986 with a 2003 cars soft top.

The replacement was the entire top with all the mechanisms etc.
It is a drop in fit with no modifications, just attach, adjust and plug in, and your good to go.

I also need a new rear window and considered the entire top from a 2003 with the glass window from a dismantler.

The 2003 has an extra bow in the roof and changes the roof shape slightly.

Your are correct, a 2003 roof complete with frame can just be popped on. The trouble is I can't find one, but I dd find a 987 roof complete for a good price so it would have been great if it fitted

This DIY roof install does not sound too terrible if you don't mind giving up a day to do it.
