E Gas
Just a quick question on the E gas throttle bodies, I know that on a conventional TB I can open the butterfly manually to clean it, but with my E gas the butterfly is almost closed ( idle position) and I was afraid of forcing it open to properly clean around the butterfly area. Is there any way of opening the butterfly, or is that a non option?

I remove mine from the car and clean on the bench. I have opened the plate easily with a finger light pressure and clean with an electronic cleaning swab, and some carb cleaner.

I had same prob as B42, would be curious to know workaround, was definitely not mobile with light finger pressure, was afraid to damage it so just cleaned around it.
Anyone got any insight? |
You really should not be pushing the throttle blades open on an e-gas body, it can cause issues with the servo assembly that operates it. I would remove the body and spray clean it from both sides without moving the blade.

I've had mine appart several times and the internal servo gears and motor are robust so no worries pushing the plate open by hand against the force of a fairly strong return spring.
You can force it open with finger pressure and clean as you like. Hold it with the servo side high so the solvents you use do not seep into the servo area. |
Thanks for the replies, I cleaned it again today and yes, it opens and closes quite easily.
