Part number help...
 

Hi All,

I'm looking for two part numbers, for a 2000 S. I've checked Pelican, various sites, and I downloaded a service manual that I found online, but no luck. Here's what I need:

1. Behind the front-left shock tower there is a round hole in the body that should have a body plug installed. Mine is open. The hole is about 1.5" in diameter.

2. Screw behind the door latch handle that is visible when the handle is pulled.

I called Pelican and they couldn't find the parts, either. So here's another question for anyone with a 2000 S - Looking through the front-left wheel just to the right of the shock, do you see a round hole, about 1.5" in diameter?

2002 Boxster S driver's side looking aft. Does this image have your hole? And if not, where would the hole be relative to this image?

The hole is in the wheel well. Looking straight through the wheel, you can see it just right of the shock. I'll pull the wheel tomorrow to take a picture.

Here's a picture through the wheel. Shock is on the left, hole in the top middle, caliper bottom right.

for the plug, go dig around in a junkyard and look for body plugs in the trunks and the floorboards of old junk cars. they are not Porsche specific. the screw is a #6, 3/4" screw available at just about any hardware store. pull the one from the other side of the car and match it up.

Mitch, This is what you're missing. The tube connects to something behind the hole it came out of. It didn't take much pulling to get out and I'm guessing yours just fell off. Of all my cars, only two still had one. I'm guessing it's a drain tube for water that might collect in the battery area. The rubber grommet slid up when I took it out. It should be about where my thumb is and only about an inch of the tube sticks out. I just mailed one to you along with the screw that goes behind the inside door handle.
