Boxster Performance issue
Hi
I recently bought my first porsche boxster 2001 model. It's in a relatively good condition other than the few bumps, scrapes and scratches and a few internal items that I needed to replace. I have noticed that when the boy racer mood strikes and I reach 4800 - 5000 rpms the engine seems to give a little back, like it's being smothered or something, I don't know how else to explain my problem. Is there anybody that can maybe give me some advise on this? |
Sounds like Fuel pump or filter is not outputting enough fuel and pressure starts dropping at higher RPM. Have the fuel pressures checked at idle and higher rpm.

Ok thanks I will have it checked with its next service interval coming up

Have them perform a "fuel volume test" using a PSTII or PIWIS.
If they don't know what I'm talking about?? RUN. It's spelled out in the factory manuals how to do this. Fuel pressure will tell you nothing. It's a volume issue with these cars, and it is performed utilizing the above mentioned tools (that 80% of the shops don't have) |
