O2 sensors

Did the forum search and came up with nada.

The aft cat O2 sensor on bank 2 of my S just went dead. My local World PAC guy want $167 a piece for Bosche (I'm dubious about Bosche quality). They ear offering a Walker O2 sensor for $106 a piece. I have never heard of this brand and I'm looking for feedback if anyone has any experience with them.

Is there a preferred brand and source?

walker is a aftermarket exhaust manufacturer who's quality is ok. I purchases a cat from them for a Miata, and was not overly impressed. the bends were not mandrel bent. the welds were rather ugly, but the part performed as advertised. I would suggest going on e-bay or some other site and getting a new bosch or denso. I was able to, after a little searching, get a bosch o2 sensor for $70 new. by the way bosch is the oem type for Porsche.

Walker is a well known aftermarket parts brand. Not particularly popular with Porsche owners/mechanics. The OEM Bosch is an exact replacement with the proper length pigtail already attached. Simple plug in replacement.

Parts equivalency tables are here. I paid less for the Bosch than your source is offering.

I got my post cat o2 sensor from amazon using the part numbers from mike's website. Much cheaper than from Porsche. The hardest part was getting the old sensor off.

Edit: here is the sensor I got from Amazon, currently priced at $87

I couldn't fit my regular O2 socket in the tight spot so I used this one and it worked like a champ:

Since I got mine, there is a new "low price" type of OE fitment O2 sensor on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Prime-Choice-Auto-Parts-KO1897/dp/B005ERWCAK/ref=au_pf_ss_8?ie=UTF8&Make=Porsche%7C2&Model=Boxs ter%7C18&Year=2000%7C2000&carId=001&n=15684181&s=a utomotive

I probably would have still gotten the Bosch even if this other one had been available but as time goes on and people try this sensor it may become a low cost alternative.

I would choose Bosch. YMMV

rather than the purchase of all these o2 sensor wrenches and sockets, I have found the use of a 7/8" open end wrench works fine. the actual size of the sensor is a 22mm, but those wrenches are a bit of a pain to find. the sensors on a boxy are ridiculously simple to remove.
