986 brakes sticking
 

I have a 1999 Boxster and the brakes are sticking. When I bought the car, it had a new transmission. I think the brakes holding were the cause of the new transmission. I had the dealer flush the brakes, because they were very spongy. They now are don't have a slow down period. Either they are on all the way, or off. Sometimes I need to pull up with my foot for the transmission to shift.

Any ideas of how I can correct this

Caliper pistons are sticking perhaps?

I have a front set off of my 2004 base boxster that's been rebuilt for sale.

search brake booster I think someone had this same issue.

Fairly common issue on the older boxsters. No one cleans the drains by the battery, water accumulates, and enters the brake booster.

Change the booster, your problem will be solved.
Keep the drains clean and the problem will be prevented from ever happening again.

By the way, every brake booster I've tried to repair with WD40 and thorough cleaning worked for a few minutes, and went right back to making the brakes stick. Just buy a good used one.

I like doing things myself. Right now I'm have the transmission worked at in a shop, but am planning on handling the brake issue when I get it back. Is this an issue I can do myself. I also have thoughts on the ABS system, or the assisted braking system. I do a lot of fixing stuff using you tube. Does anyone now of something like you tube I can use.
