Boxster S 2002 Exhaust Header Rust

Hi,

Planning a big trip in my car in the next 7 days and inspecting my exhaust I can see my exhaust headers are very heavily rusted (see pics attached).

The exhaust brackets at the U bends are also heavily rusted along with the three bolts on each triangular flange (nuts completely rusted away!) connecting to the rears cats. I had planned to replace and brackets and manifold to cat bolts.

Looking for advise on my headers. The garage have advised not to touch them unless they are giving trouble as if bolts snap I if would be a very expensive job to put right.

Is this header likely to let me down or should I leave it be? Will be covering 2500 miles in the car over 5 days!

I will be paying labour already to replace the manifold to cat bolts and u bend brackets.

Thanks in advance

I think you'll be fine for the trip! In absolutely worst case scenario the header would have a hairline crack and you would have a small exhaust leak. Enjoy your trip!
