Front turn signal socket problem

I thought I had a burned out bulb. As it turns out the problem was the socket. I found a small piece of brass in the socket. I cannot see where it fits. I checked with the dealer who tells me the socket is not sold as a separate item, but is only sold as the complete headlight assembly. Ouch. $1,200 dollars. This is for a 2003 Boxster. Please help with any suggestions. Thank you. jinx

There's an aftermarket socket that fits. I don't recall the part, but I'll do some checking. I believe it's a $5 piece and doesn't look exactly the same, but fits and works fine.

It's in a thread that I either started or posted in within the last 3 months if you want to run a search.

Here is the thread where it was discussed.
Another user found the sockets in the link below. It looks like they should be a match, but 2 of the 4 locking tabs will have to be cut off and the new wires spliced to the old connector.

Link to the part...

Thank you very much. I purchased a socket this morning. Also bookmarked the site. Just for future reference. I kind of am building a data base just for future reference.
