OBD not giving out codes, is it broken

Hi I tried 2 diff obd 2 code readers from 2 diff repair shops and neither is giving me any codes. Do you have any idea of why my 99 boxster is not giving out codes to these readers?

Try scanning the car with a Porsche specific scanner (PST II, PIWIS, Durametric) rather than a generic global scanner and see what you find. Porsche uses a lot of unique diagnostic systems in these cars that third party scanners cannot even see much less clear.

Is the reader communicating with the car?

If it is communicating, but not displaying codes, you'll need a Porsche specific scanner.
If it is not communicating at all, it could be a connector issue, but this is unlikely. Also, make sure that the plug is fully seated as the socket on the car is configured to fit both Porsche specific scan tools and OBDII...OBDII scanners can be a little tricky to get in the socket correctly.

Well I bought a scanner from walmart and it worked? It threw off one code and I will start a thread on it for me service engine soon light.
