2002 Boxster S - Purchased 12/2/2013 eCarOne Carrollton, TX 75006

WP0CB29802U664290 96918 miles

97500 mi @ Albuquerque (I am 67)

1) Replaced Motor mount
2) Installed GBox 2nd gear detent
3) Changed Oil and Filter (magnetic plug installed)
4) Changed Transmission oil
5) Replaced cabin and engine filters
6) Cleaned engine for observation

Issues:

1) Metal filing in oil filter (maybe drive 1000mi & change oil again?)

2) Oil on top of engine (Cleaned engine and watching for oil) (check AOS hose? -- which one?)

3) Second gear still pops out when cold? (am I doomed to rebuild this Trans?)

4) Driver side top wire does not seat properly (is this just an adjustment?)

5) Passenger side top tensioner missing (on order Pelican)

6) Passenger side top ball joint stud missing (? order from Denmark?)

7) How to remove windstop? (someone local must know?)

8) Cup holder stuck? (is there an easy way without removing panel?)

9) Driver seat tear (replace just the torn parts?)

10) Driver seat will not fold forward (do I have to take the seat out?)

11) Fabric clip broken (what does this fabric fence do?)

Any hints for resolutions would be appreciated by this old man

Welcome to the forum & wonderfull world of Boxstering!

1. If that's all you found in the filter nothing to worry about. You need to cut it open for full inspection. After 1000 miles just remove the filter & inspect. If you find any metal, then cut the filter for full inspection, if ok reinstall intact. You will lose 1/2 qt. oil.
2. You probably have P/S fluid on top of engine from the short vent hose. Extend the hose to below the engine. Top up P/S fluid with Pentosion. I answered your other thread.
3. 6-speeds are great trans., except for the 2nd gear issue. Call CA Motorsport in AZ to discuss your options.
4,5,6,7. Never had any top problems,so don't know.
8. These are delicate & problematic. May need to remove panel search forum for DIY.
9,10. Go to best Upholstery shop in town.
11. the fabric helps guide the top & keeps foreign objects out of hinges.

I bet you don't feel a day over 60 while driving the Box!

To remove the windstop, gently lift the little levers toward the middle of the car and pull the corner of the plastic toward the rear of the car. Repeat on other side. It's difficult until you see it work. PM me if you still can't get it off and we can talk on the phone or meet. DON'T force it or you Lloyd break 8ff the levers and then you're hosed.

The mesh wind blocks don't absolutely need all the tabs -- just secure them to the roll bar with a black 8-inch zip tie or two.

Black electrical tape to role bar all around ID perimeter may look tidy as well.
