Any tips to remove the shifter cables from gearbox..?
I tried (unsuccessfully) to pull the shifter cables from their sockets on the gearbox applying considerable force but I was afraid to bend or break something..
Are there any tips to remove the cables from the gearbox..? Last night I was too tired to start guessing and get creative and decided to take a break and will continue tonight. I only have one bolt left to remove between the engine/gearbox (top left driver side, closest to the slave cylinder) and was going to wait after removing the gearbox mounts to lower the gearbox a bit to have more room, but before that I have to remove the shift linkage cable from the gearbox that is on the way of this bolt. Thank you in advance for sharing your comments Regards, Gilles |
What year car do you have? If it is an earlier model you need to remove 2 cotter pins and a metal bracket on each of the cable ends before you can remove them. Check out the link below.

Are you removing the trans? if so just remove the brackets from the trans as assembly, no need to separate the cable ends from the sockets.

oh I'm in N. Tustin if you need to borrow the 12 pt for the bell housing bolt.
