Eureka!!!!!!

Thanks everyone on the forum, my boxster is back up an running.

It turned out to be the variocam actuator, which in itself was a royal pain in the a--. to replace.

The former owner had been inside the cam cover and had stripped out one of bolts attaching the exhaust camshaft, so I had to replace the actuator by only removing the intake camshaft. An 8 hour job turned into a 16 hour job. But at the end of the day the car is fixed and she purrs like a kitten.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!
