11 inch wide wheel fit?
Will a 19X11 in. wheel fit on a Boxster? The wheels I am looking at have the correct offest but the width is the biggest concern. Can anyone chime in here? I have a 2000 Boxster S. Thanks!

I have not tried it but am skeptical. Your Porsche shop would know for sure. Or, you can whip out the tape measure.
I can tell you I had some 295s on a 2001 911 coupe and they stuck out a mile. Looked wierd. |

BTW check out the thread KRZ's 2000 986 S I have a side pic of my rear wheel which tucks just nicely inside the fender. KRZ |
thanks for the info! It may just work!

It may not workkkk
i have a 10.5 rim for the rear. my offset seems fine 52. when i place the rim on the car it touches up against the shock/strut. i will need spacers for sure. the place that i bought the rims from are sending me 7mm spacers. i think i need more like 20mm spacers. i have been told by a porsche specialist here that i need 20mm spacers, which is ridiculous, n ridiculous looking. now you have a 11 on the rear...you will need a bigger spacers.

BTDT with a set of 11" Fikse FM5's. They do not fit. Had to use spacers to get the rim to barely squeak by the shock tower and the outer rim was way outside of the fender lip.
Here are some pics of my 2000S with 10.5 x18 et 40 Volk TE37's which have about 0.040" clearance to the shock towers. I dont know how KronixSpeed get's his 10.5" rims to fit with a 52mm offset. http://images5.theimagehosting.com/DSC00027.8.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/DSC00074a.JPG CW |
6mm spacer and yes it fits...10.5 width
hey i know its a tight fit, but same ordeal, i can just fit a piece of cardboard through the inside of the tire to strut. really close, but it fits. 10.5 X 19 on the rear. rear rubber is a crazy 275.............
pulls out the rear of the car real nice.......making it look like a wide body... |
Wow KronixSpeed what rims are those and how much did they run you. Sweet!

On your next set see if you can push a 285/30....It will fit the wheel much better. I have 285/30/18s on the 18X10s |
I don't quite get why you would want such wide tires.. really does muck with the handling of the car in a bad way.

Hi,
To each his(her) own, but it ain't workin' for me... and as mentioned, the handling compromise probably isn't worth it either... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
I dont do it soo much for performance but a 265/35 looks funny on a 10" wheel as the tire has stretch to fill it
|
why would you say that?
why is a wider tire taking away from performance? i would thing that a wider tire has better handling and therefore the car is more stable......
oh well, if you ever get to drive a boxster with wider tires, you might feel how solid the car feels and how much better it is..................... |
