First Upgrades For My 01 Boxster

Hello 986 forum, just joined today. Cant believe i just discovered this place! I purchased my 2001 Boxster In August 2011 and it is currently bone stock. I have always dreamed of upgrades but never had the time and money concurrently. My plan for the last year or so was to sell it and get a newer Cayman in the spring. Instead I bought a house which is great because I now have a garage but the Cayman is no longer " a realistic option" as my wife puts it. What is a realistic option is some basic upgrades to enhance my baby and actually get a little wrench time in the garage. So I'm just looking for some general advice on where to begin. Like most boxster owners I would like to get a little better sound out of the exhaust. I looked back to some old threads and the top speed exhaust for $300 seems like a nice place to start, maybe the headers also? I'm open to any suggestions or combination of parts my only concern is passing VA emissions. Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.

Regards

I also have a 01 Boxster, from what I have read the reviews seem a little mixed on the TopSpeed exhaust. Some like it but you hear comments like "acceptable drone" or "not much drone at all" or "only drone between 2500 to 3500 rpm". I'm looking for great sound and "no drone". I like a nice sounding exhaust and hate drone, drone is annoying and tiresome. So if anyone wants to dive in, I'm interested along with ya, Carl

ONe more thing, I did some leather upgrades in the cabin, armrests on doors and on center console. Got the stuff from Topgaiter on Ebay, easy, inexpensive and looks kick arse.

I would start with test pipes, cheap and reduce back weight.

I think my first performance mod will be an underdrive pulley when I get around to it.
