Exhaust Hack

Hey guys, I just hacked my exhaust to make it sound louder.

Details are at http://www.ppbb.com/boards/ppbbphp/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=ARCHIVES&Number=1085350&pa ge=4&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=2&fpart=all

It is possible!

It was pretty rough, but beats paying $1000+ for a sports exhaust, and looks completely original (from the outside).

I've attached (well tried to..) a pic of where i cut the hole to bypass the muffler chambers. (no thats not my exhaust, i din't have to open it as i cut it using the side of a drill bit up the inlet.

My pic worked.

Heres another of a earlier exhaust (the one in the previous post is a 2001 exhaust). This shows the passage of gasses through various chambers.

Interesting.

Can you describe the change in the sound. Is it a consistenty nice sound throughout the RPM range?

It seems that quite a long drill bit is needed.

How easy is it to remove the muffler and put it back on?

Refer to this in relation to taking the exhaust off.

its easy to remove apart from the 2 bolts on top... these will test your
patience.

The sound is not much louder, but noticeable. The dead silence that was standard is gone.

If you want it louder drill il bigger. Quieter, drill a smaller hold. The hole i made was aout 1.5cm across.
