Using only 1 header????

So, I am installing my supercharger and its now time to re-install the headers.

http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/49610-installing-imagine-automotive-super-charger-my-1998-2-5-boxster.html

Looks like the headers I have won't fit with the SC installed. Guess I should have checked that before I wrapped them.

Anyhow, looks like I will have to go back to stock exhaust manifold.

My question is, is there any reason I could not still use the performance header on the drivers side and the stock header on the passenger side?

I can't answer your question but what about some cat-less Euro stock spec headers? I have some in the garage about to go in the bin.

You'll burn lean in the one bank and rich in the other. The MAF can't determine which side gets better air flow. You'll possibly cause some cat cell faults.

The computer will compensate and can adjust the mixture on one bank...Either way, I cant say its something that I think is a good idea.

Have you tried stock 987 headers? There are a few threads on it here.

I agree, that its probably not the best idea to mix headers. 987? No I have not. Did not realize they could work. I will look at threads. Thanks

PM sent just now.

Sent you an email back with a pic. I've put them on eBay for £10 which is about USD$15.

i researched the tpc kit pretty closely with the intent of installing it on my 3.2. what stopped me was that you had to use the oem 2.5 headers, which are too small for a blown 2.5, let alone a 3.2.

Thanks. Those are the same as the stock headers on US models.

edc 01-19-2014 09:29 AM

Perhaps somebody else can confirm but I think in the US the 2.5 has no cats in headers but everything else does.

The shape of these headers looks like they would work with the supercharge. However they say they are for 00-04. Anyone know if they would also fit for 1998? Not sure what the difference between 97-99 and 00-04 header? Or is that just an error in the listing?
