Whats needed to convert from E-gas to non E-gas

I want to convert to a mechanical throttle setup on my 2000 boxster with traction control, so what else is needed? Here's a list so far. By the way, I have a 2.7 intake manifold and computer attached to a 3.4 996 engine ( hard to explain, but I made the manifold fit )

97-99 Non E-gas engine harness
98-99 DME ( and a reflash )
996 intake manifold
Accelerator pedal

I know the traction control wont work, which is a good thing, but will it affect the ABS?

Why didn't you use the 3.4 manifolds and why are you trying to convert?

I didnt realize how much power I was missing out on with the 2.7 intake manifold, didnt want to lower my engine 1.5", and wanted to keep the wiring and installation simple, which has done so far for 2 years and 25k trouble free miles. Now I realize how much power I left on the table ( I estimate im only making 265-270hp ) and I want more.

As for the conversion, I dont know if I can use the 2.7 DME and properly tune the 3.4 engine, I sent a few emails to some tuning companies and everyone shrugged their shoulders at me. I was thinking about installing the DME that came with the 3.4 engine ( which is non Egas ) to make everything simple. Is there a way to use my existing DME and flash it as a 3.4 Egas? I wouldnt mind keeping the Egas setup if I could.

Get a 3.4 engine program and put the right manifolds on it. Buy a used 987 engine cover and put the motor at stock height. All will work as stock

What he said..

after that: Flash it with a stock 01 3.4 tune (they were the only year of fly-by wire was on the 3.4) anyone with a PSTII or Piwis can do this for you.

The 2.7/3.2 intake was too small for the 2.7/3.2 engine.. :(

Ok I'm going to stay with Egas then. Does anyone know if I use the same throttle when I swap the manifold over? Or is it a 996 specific part?

You need the 3.4L throttle body. The 2.7L would be a smaller diamerter.

2.7/3.2 are the same... so you **can** run this for testing, but the ideal situation would be a the 3.4. I think I use a 3.4 caymanS throttle body :) ask around.. ALL the people who installed the V8Cayenne throttle body/GT3 have a stock Cayman TB sitting around :)

Is it worth it to get the whole intake manifold-T that goes with the Cayman S?
