Name that seal quiz
 

Just opened up a brand new Pelican Parts seal kit and was met with bags of seals and bags of bolts that go somewhere in the engine. :eek: Some are obvious, some not so much. Do you know where these seals and bolts go?

Jamesp, the variocam cover for our car is the green coloured one, the brown coloured is too small of an inside diameter, I had to reorder mine.

The other seals and bolts?? HAhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! think of it as a puzzel! I guess you didn't take pic's?
Did you buy individual parts or a complete engine rebuild seal kit?

1 looks like any number of locations but could go to #10
3 looks like the oring on cap plate on end of valve cover but there are only 2
6-7 oil cooler
10 Valve timing solenoid
11 looks like filll spout
14 - 15 water galley in halfs of the block
17 looks like oring on oil level sensor

11 is oil filter

2 could be for the spark plug tubes but on 03 & 04 we have as in the pic.

1 crank scraper bolts
2 timing chain guide bolt o rings
3 case to carrier bolts and swirl pot o rings
4 not sure I use them for the cam and crank sensors
5 ?
6 only need one and it is for the oil fill tube
7/8 heat exchanger seal
9 oil pump housing
10 vario solenoid early 5 chain
11 oil filter housing
12 oil pick up
13 ?
14/15 coolant passage seals
16 AOS return
17 dip stick tube

Ok, what is a "crank scraper"? On this forum I shudder to think of the possibilities.
