O2 Sensor success
 

I finally got the Boxstar out of the shop from its Exxon Valdez imitation(timing tool will be for sale shortly) and did what I plan to do; replace the O2 sensors. Using the 101 book for guidance, it took me 3 hours on the first one and 1 hour on the next. The book failed to mention the red clips that hold the connectors in. After the install, I ran a diagnostic and everything is within tolerances. Took it out for a run and so far no CEL light! Hopefully success!!

3 hours for a O2 sensor replacement seems way too much. I recall a single one taking 20 minutes and that was mostly waiting for the cats to cool down a bit so you'd want to get your hand near it. A lift really helps. As does the right tool to break loose the sensor.

what are the tolerances?

Wow you must have a kickass car, Boxstar, I only have a Boxster. You lucky lucky bastard!

I agree 3 hours is too long but that included making the plug from Bosch's universal kit and I couldn't see the red clip holding it so I spent considerable time pulling and pushing on the plug. And running to O'Reillys for a 22mm wrench
