So I my boxster S motor was recently fully rebuilt. However now it wont start, the motor has been primed has the right amount of oil in it along with coolant. The car has been sitting for about 6 months with the motor out and has about a half tank of gas.

The motor turns over and you can see that it wants to start however as soon as I stop the rotation of the starter the motor stops as well. New spark plugs and coil packs. Not sure if it could be electrical at this point, and the motor doesn't sound like it's not timed properly.

Anyone have an idea what it could be?

Thanks LG.

Can you hear the fuel pump humming while standing near the fuel cap, with the key on?

Is the car firing at all? If not you can check the COPs (Coil on Plugs) using a COP probe (Example: Waekon 76560) to check them. The probe looks like a flyswatter. Put the swatter end on the coil and turn the engine over. An LED lights up if the coil is working. If it does not light up, you've got coil problems. You can then trouble shoot from there. If it lights up, you know you have spark.

check your fuses.

Will check the coil pack and also will check the fuses! I'll report back ASAP.

Six month old fuel won't help either.

Roadside, Is there a possibility that the flywheel sensor got disconnected or damaged during installation?

I believe that this sensor signals the ECU to send the power to the spark plugs...

Also, just for kicks disconnect the MAF. I was surprised that my hot start problem (starter turns, engine fires, then dies - total run time about 1 sec) turned out to be a MAF. I thought CPS, but nope it was a MAF. And since a MAF test will not cost anything I'd suggest giving it a try just to see if it makes a difference or not.

Spray some wd 40 into the intake manifold, pull off a hose behind the throttle body and spray as you crank the motor. If it catches and sputters, then you have a fuel supply problem, if no sputters at all, then it's an ignition problem.
