that oughta' put a little spring in your step!

Would this work on an engine mount that is shot?

woodsman 10-20-2013 01:49 PM

well it would to some degree but a new one at Suncoast Porsche costs the same-$130!

get the 987 mount - stiffer than the 986 and a direct fit.

If your engine mount is shot you should replace it with a new mount. Problem solved.

Recently replaced engine mount on 2002S w 46, 000 m. Tremendous improvement in shifting and handling. Also replaced transmission mounts at the same time. Engine mount had actually broken. I think the rubber just goes bad w age.

I find it hard to believe that this design would firm up the mount yet not send a lot of vibration into the car. As Radium King said, the best tradeoff between firmness and vibration is the stock 987 mount.

Looks like if it is shaped properly it should limit, but not eliminate, movement of the engine. I want to try it, but it will probably be a while before I get to it.
