durametric options

What's a durametric cost and where's the best place to buy one?

Flavor 987S 10-08-2013 11:25 AM

About $290. Buy from their web site.

Diagnostic Tool for Porsche | Durametric

The hobbyist version is $287 and the pro version is $735

Porsche Diagnostic Store | Durametric Software Products for Sale

I think there might be a hobbyist version for sale right now in the for sale forum; that's where I got mine.

Steve

Thankyou Flavor and Steved.

Also, you might be able to buy a used Durametric with one or two VIN's still remaining on the Enthusiast version. I bought mine used with two VIN's remaining for $150.

Thanks, but I've bought a new one. I'm about to enter a whole new world with it!

I haven't a clue...!

I have that and it works to show everything the Torque app will show: RPM, speed, coolant temp, intake temp, timing advance, and a few other things I think. Doesn't integrate very well with iPad/iphone. Be sure to distinguish between a wifi network and a bluetooth network type. I wanted to use my connector via bluetooth; I believe there are two different kinds (wifi and bluetooth).

It stays powered when it is plugged into the port though so unfortunately it is not a plug and forget thing. Also, mine doesn't find any check engine codes (I don't have any:D) but if I did, i doubt it would show them properly/clear them properly.

Jinster 10-15-2013 02:41 PM

Yes it will.

I have an Asteroid Smart installed in my Boxster and am running Torque Pro among other apps.

If you go back to the main screen of TP, it has an option to scan and then clear codes.

Yeah, the always powered on scanner is a bit annoying. I can't leave it plugged in and be sure my battery doesn't get drained a week later.

Dash Command with a OBII reader will clear codes and clear them fine.

I got mine for free:D It came with a diagnostic cable.

jdraupp 09-12-2014 06:34 PM

You got a downloaded copy of 8 year old Durametric software with your knock off chinese clone cable you keep trying to peddle. Take your junk elsewhere. No one wants a pc with windows 95 either in case you were wondering.

Hmmm, fun to watch how these threads continue to develop.

Best bet: Support the real Durametric by buying on their site, or get a deal on a genuine used one.

Probably every 10+ year old P-car should come with one as part of the kit!

That's a good idea. If Porsche cars come with Durametric, we don't need to look for it everywhere and it would be easy to troubleshoot car problems.
