Wheel Alignment Trouble
Hi Folks. I just came back from my local tire distributor. My box has been vibrating lately at high speed, so I took it in to be re-balanced and have the wheels aligned. Shop called me and said that 3 of the wheels lined up but the right rear was still 1/2 degree out after adjusting the eccentric as far as it would go.
any ideas as to what would cause this? And if so, any ideas on how to fix this? |
It depends on which setting is out of spec.Hopefully the shop will give you the final spec
Alignment rarely causes vibration issues. Your right rear wheel may be bent & the source of the vibration. A good alignment shop familiar with Boxsters can advise you of the cure & cost. What year is the Box & mileage? |
Hi By. '99 Boxster, 87k. I drove the car. Handles a lot better than it did and the vibration is gone. They said a new eccentric is a start. I personally don't think that could be the issue.

Thanks for the info. Can the eccentric wear down over the course of 14 years?

+1 on the Top Speed adjustable rear toe bars. I like mine too!
|
No. It's quite impossible for the eccentric plate and its bolt/but to wear out or break.

Again thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to get these toe bars if I want it back to spec. It is the toe that is a .5 degree too far in. I haven't looked at the setup yet myself because it rained all afternoon. I'll delve into this during the weekend and see if I can live with it like it is or start working on it.

The alignment is quite precised in an order of hundredth of inches, i.e. 0.01, for toe. I believe the camber is more forgiving and is read in tenth.

I took it up to 100 today and it's holding steady. I can live with it now for a while. Not pulling to the right anymore, and no vibration. Now if I could just stop getting P0154 and P0134 to go away I would have a happy boxster!
