Replacement voltage regulator

I HAVE A 1998 PORSCHE BOXTER THAT I WANT TO REPLACE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR ON. IS THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR A INTEGRAL PART OF THE ALTERNATOR OR CAN YOU JUST REPLACE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR .

if YOU CAN JUST REPLACE THE REGULATOR CAN THIS BE DONE WITHOUT REMOVAL OF THE ALTERNATOR ???

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.............

The voltage regulator is a separate unit inside the rear of the alternator, it is common to VW, Audi, MB, and several other brands; and should set you back about $40. The alternator needs to come off to replace it. Do a search, covered many times.

AND ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING!!!!!
