OBC activation issue

I used my Durametric to enable my OBC so that I would have the outside temp display. When the OBC enabled, my whole dash reverted to imperial measure. I was able to change it all (speedo, trip, time, odometer) back to metric using the clock knob, except the outside temp still displays in Farneheit. Anyone know how to make the outside temp show in Celsius? There does not seem to be a way to do it with the Durametric tool.

Your car was originally coded to be a North American car, but the OBC was not country coded because it was not factory activated. You need to swap dash clusters for a metric unit to get the OBC to get metric values. This is why Porsche parts lists dashes for specific countries.

Thanks JFP. I guess I can live with Farenheit.

Damn...my 996 was originally a Canadian car, and I'm stuck with Celcius!

you two should swap...

The thought briefly crossed my mind, but way more trouble than it is worth, even without the downtime. It's ok, I grew up in the 60's and 70's before Canada went metric, so I'm kinda bilingual.

If you swap used dash clusters, just remember the car is came out of's mileage stays with the cluster, and you can only reset mileage on new clusters.
