Exterior blck plastic
What's the best way of renewing the black plastic cowl and radiator scoop pieces?

BBQ paint?

A lot of people have been talking about PlastiDip recently. I was going to give it a shot on my (now grey) cowl under the windshield wipers and a few interior pieces.
I can report back and let you know how it works. |

Have you tried simple creamy peanutbutter?

I was hoping someone had tried wipe new that is advertised on tv. Looks way too good to be true

I've tried Black Again and it seems to work for a couple of weeks, and then fades back to the same color as it was before. I'm looking for a more permanent solution, given my 'passive neglect' method of automotive detailing :-)

Plastidip is great... used it on the interior plastics and on the cabriolet frame. make sure you spray from the proper distance though

I used Plasti Dip on mine.

303 protectant seems to bring things back to black slightly, and stays that way. Wouldn't recommend it for some serious "blackening." Definitely keeps new stuff looking new though.

I use mothers back to black and lexol vinyl spray.
Both work pretty well but they do not last forever. I usually have to work it into the plastic to get it to really take hold....just simply wiping over it with the stuff does not work as well. I have spray painted the radiator grills twice now in the past 5-6 years of ownership and it seems to last pretty well.

I assume you removed them before painting? Easy to remove?
|
Yes I removed them...
they just snap into the bumper from the back side. I did have to remove the bumper but that coincided with cleaning the radiators so it all worked out. You could probably paint them with them installed but you would have to do alot of masking and I just didn't want to take the chance.

"Black Wow" looks amazing for about 2 days and then it goes to ****************. However, if you apply it every couple days for about 3 weeks, things look great for a lot longer.
