1998 Base model 986 vs 2001 Boxster "S" wiring harness

New to Boxster's, so please forgive the stupid questions. Which is, I have a 2001 boxster S which has had its main wiring harness running from the front of the car to the back "Cut" in half (About mid door area). I have another harness from a 1998 base model car and wanted to know if there is any difference between the two. I was going to use the back half of the harness, match the colors together and join them together? is this feasible OR is there a plug somewhere inside the dashboard that I could disconnect and plug a replacement back harness to?

Cheers - Andy
