OK, started after something related to fuel happened. Maybe the dirt in the bottom of the tank that is usually suspended got sucked into the system with the last gasp of fuel?

Sure enough, on the diagnostic tree after plugs, coils, connectors there appear two fuel related checks. Pressure check and at fuel return quantity check. Next is injector triggering check.

Messing around with the fuel delivery system is dangerous so you may want to let a shop do it.
