race boxster, what to do with mufflers
Hi guys, im building a pca Boxster S and DE car, i have sound limit to take care of.
my plan was to remove the muffler and put straight pipes and put a downpipe like i used to do in my 4s and i know it will do the job. are you guys also removing the cats? thanks for the help |
Run the car without the muffler, and then run the car without the cats. It should give you an idea of what the car sounds like.
Im running headers, gutted cats in the mid pipe, and an NHP muffler. I have drone from 2000-3000 rpm, and I think its a little too quiet at WOT for my tast |
yes, we remove the cats on any race boxster that doesn't need to be street legal.
The S has the cats in the manifold so it depends on if the class allows aftermarket headers or not. |

i plan to race F class in PCA, thats what i was told ps: eric, i have another question for you, can we put 997.2 gt3 rs shifter cable in a boxster? i ordered a 997.2 gt3 rs shifter, that i know it fits, but what about the cables? also, do you have any wiring diagram of what i can remove from my boxster see a picture of how it looks right now thx for the help |

The RS shifter cables will not work. You should be able to re-use your current cables with the new shifter though. I don't have any special diagrams for the wiring removal. We just use BIG (3'x20') photocopies of the factory diagrams on our walls  A full strip and race harness job on a 996/986 takes us 45-50 hours by experienced guys. |
