Problem With Electric Windows

When locking my car recently both windows went down about 2 inches. Although the windows will still operate up and down they will not go back to the fully closed position. I suspect damp may have got into the electrics as the car had been over the road for a few months but i am not sure of what to check first. Any ideas of how to troubleshoot this problem ???

Hi,

My guess is that you have a stuck Micro-Switch for the Top. Take a piece of wood, chopstick, pencil, etc and carefully work it in the Latch Opening on the Header for the Top Latch, this should fix the issue.

another good way to cure this is to just unlatch and re-latch the top, giving it a good smack in place as you do. Common problem i think, mine does the same thing. As I understand, a new switch is pretty cheap and is DIY.

Problem Solved

Thanks all for your comments. Turned out it was the microswitch as suggested. Once I pressed this manually I could close both the windows and after repeating a few times it appears to have corrected so that the roof securing mechanism now operates the microswitch. Thanks for your suggestions.
