Front wheel area squealing

I've had this higher pitched squealing (sounds like a pig in pain) in my front left wheel area for almost a month now. I took it in (twice) to the mechanic and both times the squealing resided and they didn't hear anything. I had worn front rotors, they said it might be the brake pad rubbing against the rotor lip. So I ordered/replaced them...squeal still there. My tires are 2 months old so it's probably not tires.

Some days the squeal is softer then others, and it seems like when I drive for a bit it gets softer and SOMETIMES goes away, it can be sporadic. It normally starts at about 35-40 mph and stops when i get under that, it seems like the pitch is speed dependent.

I hear that wheel bearings have a lower "whoob whoob" type noise not a higher pitched squeal. Anybody have any advice on what to check or what could possibly make this noise?

you might want to search for gas cap squealing

No it doesn't have anything to do with the gas cap....

Anybody?

This is a long shot - I had a high pitched squeal in the front when I was low on power steering fluid (due to a leaking hose in the engine compartment). Its an easy check. Otherwise, I got nothin'.
