cleaning rads behind front bumper?
 

I have almost 60,000 miles on my 06 Boxster S and was wondering how many have pulled the front bumper and cleaned behind the rads,Saw a youtube video on an 99 boxster doing the procedure and was floored at the buildup between the air condenser and the front rad this guys had to clean out.Do they all get like this,can,t be good for cooling.
Seems like a design flaw,never had a car need that but this is my first Porsche.No wonder boxsters are having premature water pump failure,For those that have not seen this issue or don,t think its somethink worth cheaking ,view this

I removed my bumper / rads on purchase (60,000km) and cleaned out a heap of leaves, grass, insects, dead bird etc.
I now remove / clean every 15,000km or 2 years as normal bi-annual maintenance.
Remember to flush out the rads from behind to get rid of the accumulated grit and soil lodged in the actual radiator finning.

If you don't clean them out, they get like that. I do mine annually.

Depends on what part of the planet you live on as to how often you need to clean the radiators, but eventually they do need to be cleaned.

Thats really bad,definately some rot and cooling issues there,not sure the history of my car prior to 70000 kilometers so i am going to pull the bumper at end off this season before storage and see whats going on or in there.

It is worth it. I pulled off the bumper in about 15 minutes using the uTube method. Cleaning the radiators was also pretty quick. I used compressed air to dry the radiators. FWIW, if you have a set of ramps it makes the entire process easier. Not required, but raising the front of the car does make getting to the screws easier.
