power steering went out
Driving today and suddenly see white smoke and pull over. Initially think engine oil. Get towed home, start the car and theres no power steering. Seems it was the ps fluid that was pouring out. Good news it wasnt the engine oil.
I think it may be the of the ps hoses under the left side of the car by the engine And suggestions on how to diagnose where the leak is? Any advice on replacing a ps hose? And advice on anything to do with ps. |

If it's the hose that conects to the rear of the pump & runs down the side of the head I have a good extra hose. |
I had to replace the pressure side of the power steering line on my car due to aftermarket headers. Had to remove the accessory belt, and there's 3 bolts to loosen the pump. It was a pain to say the least

Just read both replies and I can confirm that you are both correct. I found the hose was resting against the headers and there was the leak.
Scared the crap out of me when I saw all the white smoke cause I just completed the IMS and RMS replacement and thought something with those went wrong. BYprodriver - what do want for the spare hose you have? This is the how I need. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1371344958.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1371344761.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1371344800.jpg |
Dr. I'll take $50 for the hose I have. It's in Costa Mesa about a mile off the 405 if you want to pick it up here.
