White smoke after aos replacement
Hi.
First post on the forum and looking for some advice. The girlfriends 2.5 1997 Boxster started billowing white smoke out of the exaust. After following all the good advice on this and other websites, i replaced the aos valve and the smoke stopped. The old aos valve had the cream slime of oil/ water in it. 3 days later, the car has again began to billow smoke and the exaust is a glazed black colour, but no wet oil residue. The oil and coolant levels are fine and the temperature is ok. Before replacing the aos the orange ecu light had come on, but since the replacement has gone out. Any ideas what it could be, such as head gasket or hopefully something less drastic. Really appreciate the help. Cheers. |

If you find an oil/water mix, check your oil with the dipstick because it may be contaminated with coolant. Happy Boxstering, Pedro |
Thanks for the reply. The oil looks fine and there is no residue on the filler cap. Oil also looked fine down the bottom of the pipe the aos bellows clipped to. Cars not using any oil or coolant. Thought it may be a Boxster specific problem and hopefully not too serious! Here's hoping!

bad aos leaves lots of residual oil throughout the system. a wee bit of oil can leave a lot of smoke - perhaps let it run and give it some time to burn off.

I agree with RK,when the AOS is replaced you should also clean the plenum to make sure there is no oil left in the intake system
