Convertible top sticks on roll bars...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a ’97 Boxster. About 3 years ago the top was replaced along with the motors and the window. The frame was reinforced. From day 1 the top hit the back of the factory installed roll bars (low) as it was coming up. I would stop the top, get out and push the top manually past the stuck point. I have loosened the six bolts that attach the frame and pushed it back as far as it goes, but it still hits, though it does not get stuck. After reading various forums I saw that there is an arm that is attached to the electric motors on each side with ball/socket fittings.. My question is what is the effect of lengthening/ shortening the arm? Which way do I want to turn the ball/socket to get the top away from the roll bar...?

Thanks
LLOYD
