I weighed my car.....
Road Atlanta was awesome this weekend. this was our PCA club race weekend, which is combined with advance solo DE. this opens up passing to literally anywhere on course, including the corners. half the cars were GT3's; it was a bit nerve wracking......they are fast!
anyway, i've been stripping weight from my car for a long time, but never got a baseline. some great folks allowed me to use their race scales to see where we are at. with a half tank of fuel, 2,589lb. not too shabby! now if i could take 30-40lbs out of my ass, we'd be getting somewhere. cheers. |
need to know where you got the weight out!

Wow, that is light. My 2000 986S weighed in right at 2700, and I've removed the top and carpet, swapped the seats, and done the hood in CF and the trunk lid in fiberglass (plus a few more small items)
Nice work! |
I did the seats, exhaust, convertible top trans, spoiler motor, sound deadening, SOME carpet, ac compressor, condensers, stereo......other stuff, too, i'm sure.
Then i added a center radiator, 2qt accusump & 6pt harnesses. Light is FUN!! |
Are you still using the 5 speed?

Do you notices any issue do to the increased power? How is the power band with the 3.4? I'm about to install a 3.6 as soon as assembled. |
Wow, that is quite a diet that your car has been on! Great job!
|
What diff are you going with? I just started Auto-X - with the 3.8 swap, I just slip and slide around. Need one badly!
|
there's a sale on kaaz on ebay right now ...
|
guard limited slip. in auto-x, you can get away w/ torsen type. at the track, the decel benefit from a true LSD is a must. it really stabilizes braking (allowing a bit of toe out up front w/o holy terror) and lets you get pretty aggressive w/ turn-in.
|
Thanks for the guidance!
