Full Synthetic 10W-40 year round here in Idaho. I prefer Castrol but use Mobil 1 because I can get 10 quarts for $52 from that place I hate.

What is your reasoning for running oil so for outside the parameters of what Porsche recommends and moreover with a viscosity far beyond what your modern engine was designed for?
Hmmm, the Ims problem was pretty unknown when the manual stated 15-40w.
Not only due to the cars age at that time I guess

15-50 is not "so far outside the parameters of what Porsche recommends" nor "beyond what your modern engine was designed for"

though they do have a 10-30 and a 5-30, which is to me ridiculous, so i guess we listen to what we like, ignore what we don't.
