Everything old is new again...
http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/29036-electric-power-steering-pump.html I'm assuming this is what Radium King was pointing to when he said search the forum. Well, my MR2 ps pump went into the mail today. Ill have some braided stainless steel lines made up with the MR2 fitting on one end and the box steering rack on the other. Then it should be as easy as mounting it, running the electrical stuff, and removing the stock system. I've been reading up on parasitic losses and loads on cars. From what I've seen, the PS is the third largest load on a car behind road friction and wind resistance. I pointed out before that the PS load on other cars I'm familiar with is a consistent and proven 5-8 hp. Between the PS delete and the UD pulley, I'd be pretty happy to see a 10 real world hp gain with a positive gain on drivability, durability, and fuel economy. |
I do like this solution for the PS pulley elimination. Very nice looking
