Filter choices

Went to Pelican to order a few things and wanted an oil filter to do my first oil change on my 02 S. Are the Hengst filters as good as the original porsche brand they sell? There is a big difference in the price between the two and I usually let price be my guide but was wondering if there is a difference in quality? Has any one used the Hengst filter and are you satisfied with the quality? Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the Wix/NAPA Gold 57211, much cheaper than the OEM, 30% finer media pore size than OEM for better filtration, plastic end caps and media support cage to prevent bypass leaks, available at most parts stores and online:

I've used the Porsche, Hengst, Mahle, and Wix filters. Of course, as far as I can tell they are all equal. Change your oil often and don't sweat it.

With short interval changes, it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of difference.
