Planning a few upgrades
 

So I decided to keep my car and am planning on replacing my clutch, IMS, Spark Plugs, Belt, Tranny Oil, and AOS. I will have some additional money left over and was wondering what you guys thought.

I am considering buying a new set of 18" rims or installing the ROW M030 suspension to my 2002 2.7. Which of the two would you get. The rims and tires I plan on getting are the tire rack sport cup 4's with Hankook v12 tires or Pilot sport cups or instead of the wheels keeping my 17's and replacing the suspension. Since my car is 10 years old I thought the suspension would be a nice mod to tighten the car back up. Which do you think would provide the best bang for the buck?

If you say bang for the buck, I say suspension. For street driving 17" are more fun than 18". Go for the Pilot SuperSports to complete the pkg. :D

Agree with BY above - 18" wheels are eye bling and poorer driving experience while M030's are no eye bling and all about the driving experience.
I drive my car a lot more than I look at it, so the suspension upgrade wins hands down....

+1 for the suspension! Its all about the driving experience.

If you have to do something about the 17" rims, change the color with a few cans of Plasti-dip. Updates the looks and is easy, fairly quick, cheap, and reversible.

I'm probably gonna stick with the hankooks as they are less than half the price of the pilots. I have loved my ps2's having driven on two sets over the last 10 years, but with all the maintenance, im going to need to cut some costs. I'll probably buy the super sports when I get a set of 18's.


BTW Is the m030 a DIY project?

Yes - if you are handy with the spanners - and you will probably need another pair of hands to assist.
RennTec.org Forums have a how to description if I remember correctly.....do a search there and make the decision as to whether you can install the kit yourself or not.

Are supper sports available in 17" Boxster sizes? I can't find 255 40 17's.

Maybe not, they are releasing more sizes in July.

Pilot Supersports are not yet available in 255/40/17.

It seems as more and more performance cars are being delivered new with at least 18" and often 19" or 20" wheels, the selection of performance tires for 17" is starting to lag. More surprising is the immediate availablity of a few sizes in 21" and 22" - I think this tells us where the market is heading!

17" - 7 sizes available
18" - 19 sizes available
19" - 25 sizes available
20" - 31 sizes available
21" - 6 sizes available
22" - 2 sizes available
