General interest question....how does the Boxster do in snow and/or ice on all season tires? It is my daily driver for 52 miles one way to work. I had a 350Z previously that couldn't stay on the road if it was just a little slick.

Tires, tires, tires. Anything sucks with the wrong ones, and anything works with the right ones.

Drive mine with snow tires in Chicago all winter - not a problem keeping her on the road if you don't get crazy on the throttle.

Doable with snow tires I'm sure, but there's not a lot of weight over the front wheels. I would think this would mean understeer city if you're ham fisted at all in the slick stuff. I've only driven mine in light snow once, it has all seasons and no PSM so I opt for something more suited to the season.

When I lived in Northern VA I bought a 4WD just so I'd not have to use the Boxster in the snow. But you have to understand that VA had almost no snow removal capability. In my youth, I drove Alfas and a 914 on what were then called "radials" but which weren't snows. I went skiing in those cars. But they had narrow tires.

Wider tires try to plow more snow. So you want the smallest wheels that will fit on your car and the narrowest tires that are recommended.

I have blizzaks on my 2001 Boxster base and old 16 inch 911 rims. Not stuck yet in 2 winters , I go easy on the gas and slow on the corners. No psm.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1356627566.jpg

second winter up north in Quebec and loving it! Good snow tire and the Boxster handle pretty well, even better then with my previous MR2 MKI. And when I want to have a little more fun, I simply turn off PSM and sideway it goes :-)

Thanks guys. I just got he beast out of thebody shop today and it starts snowing. Lucky it didn't stick to the roads. Probably go the snow tire route
